We've reached double figures! Pytchley Golf Course will be no less than 10 years old on August Bank Holiday Weekend. So we've decided to celebrate and to thank all of our customers we are offering 2 rounds of golf, for the price of only 1! Basically, 2 players - 1 plays for free! It's 2 for 1 and does what it says on the tin.
Customers will be able to book a whole 2 weeks in advance, oh yes we've extended the booking in limit (Don't tell Shem) and for our members and regulars - you will be awarded with a mega 3 weeks advance booking! It just keeps getting better and better!
Now to those of you thinking you can get away with this more than once a day, here are the OFFICIAL TERMS & CONDITIONS:
1. Applicable on 9-hole round of golf only.
2. Not applicable on 18 holes of golf. (obviously)
3. Offer applies to one group per day. Customers will be temporarily tagged for the day. So we will know!
4. Players must be in evenly numbered groups (i.e. 2 or 4 players) because it will not work with a 3-ball. Therefore :
4a. The third member of said group must pay full price. (thats £9 so start making friends to take part)
5. For anybody trying to claim concessionary fare - it will not be applicable during this weekend offer. Ah well.
6. Should the Management decide to withdraw said offer due to stress they will do so.
7. The Management reserve the right to refuse anyone a Tee Time Booking because they are The Management.
8. There will be no society bookings during this event. Tough.
Ladies Open July 15th 2010
We were delighted to host our very first (very windy!) Ladies Open this year. Numbers were high on the cards and we're looking forward to welcoming more players next year.
The competition consisted of a Pairs Better Ball 18 hole Stableford, with a 3/4 Handicap Allowance and over five different clubs took part. The weather proved to be a strong contender for the Ladies but they stood firm and battled on through the wind with good scores all round!
We are pleased to announce that we raised over £200 for our chosen charity this year, KGH Children's Ward - through sales of raffle tickets and a putting competition! A very successful day. Below are the scores:
1st on Countback - Jane Ashby's Group
2nd on Countback - Sue Dawkins & Lindy Blissett
3rd on Countback - Liz Talbot & Ann Barrowcliffe
1st Home Team - Viv Lewis & Vera Carter
We would also like to thank Ann Cooney and Jane Ashby for helping to organise this event and look forward to the next! Well done Ladies!
Congratulations are in order!
Well it seems this week has been full of talent! Ranging from golf right through to the arts, Pytchley has been home to it!
First up we would like to congratulate our very own champions; Miles Clarke, Kelvin Mayers and Will Heyward entered a rather large competition at The Warwickshire Golf Club. Playing amongst 84 others (about 27 teams) our boys were 1 point shy of winning. With a total score of 48 pts, our troop came 2nd, beating other Golf Clubs including Woburn and Birkdale. Not bad for little Pytchley... Pretty damn good we say! So a very well done to our boys - we are most proud! Keep representing and there may be a pint behind the bar for your victorious return!
Next on our list, we congratulate our Ladies and Seniors - in an esteemed Pytchley vs Barclaycard event that took place on 30th June, the Trophy stays at home! For this annual event, an Individual Stableford over 9 holes was the competition. The Barclaycard team consisted of 8 men and 4 ladies competing with Pytchley's team of 3 men and 9 ladies. (Here come the girls!) The Team Results were:
Pytchley : 234 points Barclaycard : 217 points
For the men - First Prize went to Paul Bedford, with Second Prize to Allan Buckby - both of Barclaycard - Well done!
For the Ladies - First Prize went to Vera Carter, Second Prize to Ann Cooney - both of Pytchley!
Through the grapevine we have heard that our Ladies played particularly well, so Congratulations on keeping the trophy here! We had great weather and with the course in tip top condition we had great feedback from the players.
Good luck to Barclaycard for next year and to the Ladies - keep it up and Well done!
Now, to the arts.
Many of you probably know of one of our members of staff, Mr Dan Johnson (who comes most highly recommended)! However, you may not know he has an incredible talent for art. After graduating from Northampton University with a Distinction he is soon going to be packing his bags and heading for The University College of Falmouth! Although we don't want him to leave, we are very, very proud of him, and invite you to come and view his work on the weekend of 24th & 25th July. We will be exhibiting his paintings over this weekend so come on down and find out a little more about this fine young gentleman. Above is an example of his work, a sneakpreview if you like, giving an idea of his style and detail on canvas. If you are interested in buying one of his paintings, either consult the bar staff or the artist himself, he's a rather friendly chap!
That about wraps it up for this week, Pytchley is bursting with Pride!
Check back soon for updates on upcoming events, we have the Ladies Open
(details below) Charity Day, which is going to be fantastic and the
Ryder Cup Weekend! Its all very hush hush so you'll have to return to
find out more!
Pytchley Golf Lodge Men's Championship
It's that time of year again! The Men's Championship has finally arrived, so don your competitive caps and join us in the 36 hole battle to be crowned Champion!
The competition took place over the weekend of the 26th & 27th of June 2010. It consisted of 36 holes spread over the weekend with victory going to the player with the lowest gross score (see our competitions page for details!)
Well the weather couldn't have been much better for our Championship this year - although a little too warm for some, it set the weekend off nicely. The golf course was beautifully cut for the competition so tip your caps to our greenkeepers! The first day saw a tough start, with tricky holes and fast greens shaping up interesting scores for the first half of the competition. On the second day we saw much improvement in the scores, as shown below - the competitors were given a little slack with more relaxed play across the afternoon. (Unlike the feelings towards the World Cup! More on that later).
For our winner, Adrian Perkins, he couldn't have played better - with an astonishing lead by the end of the competition, we were all in awe of his game as well as Tony St George's lime green luminous trousers! Quite incredible.
All in all, it was a very good weekend, except for the football. Could we believe it? Not quite, but the atmosphere in the bar has been fantastic during England's games and we would like to thank everyone for their support and patience with the bar staff. Thouroughly enjoyable evenings were had during these games, including those darn vuvuzelas! (yes pirates we mean you!) We will be showing the games right up to the final so join us to see the winners.
A big thankyou and congratulations to everyone who played in the competition - fantastic weekend!

The Kids are back in town!
So we have some FANTASTIC news; after being in Canada since September/October, the kids have finally returned! Jess, Mike and Ollie are now back in the UK.
They should all be returning to the golf lodge once again, although we are to believe it may not be for long! We have heard plans in the pipelines for New Zealand, Australia, Ski and Snowboard Instructing and much more so who knows!
Here are a few snapshots of what they've been getting up to:
